The preschool room is a large open plan space providing learning opportunities for the prime and specific areas of the EYFS (7 areas of learning).
Pre-school children are by now shifting focus from the play & exploration stage to Active learning & ultimately Creating & thinking critically.
Teaching becomes more focused at this stage helping the child to prepare for transition into school. Strategies in pre-school are:
• Phase 1 letters and sounds
• Phonic awareness
• Funky finger/dough gyms
When it’s time for that move to school, your child’s key person will contact their new teacher and arrange for a variety of transition visits. We will take your child to their school to meet their teacher and see their new class room.
Your child’s key person will write a ‘continuity report’ which will get sent over to their new teacher, to explain everything they need to know about your child, to help them prepare for their first day.
